As a DJ, Luther Calvin Riggs has been moving New York City dance floors for years. But his musical journey has its dawn in the small, farm town of Oskaloosa, Iowa. At the age five, Luther began classical training in violin and piano, in middle school he taught himself guitar, and by high school he was curating playlists for parties and school events.
After moving to New York City in 2006, while pursing a career in finance, Luther became mesmerized by dance clubs and the art of DJing. He taught himself to tell his story through music, mixing the rock and roll from his adolescence with the hip hop of his college years and the dance and Latin vibes of more than a decade in NYC.
As a music producer, he has become a one-stop-shop for songwriting, sound design, mixing and mastering. Luther released his first EP in 2015, Opus Day, featuring raw dance grooves, heavy baselines and powerful melodies. Since then, he’s produced various remixes for DJ Matheos and Chris Willis, Larry Tee and Roxy Cottontail, HVNRVN, and Orange Avenue.
Now, as a growing influencer in New York City’s music scene, Luther Calvin Riggs has been sharing his musical experiences with audiences from Midtown to Meatpacking, SoHo to Southampton, Fire Island to Fashion Week.
